Usually, when we buy a computer or laptop we see how many GB of the hard disk there are. You must know that hard disk is usually used as storage in the computer.
The hard disk is known by many names, some call it hard drive or hard disk drive. Also called HDD.

Friends, when we need to store data in the computer, we use the hard disk as storage.
The hard disk can be used in two ways, one is internal and external. However, most users use the hard drive internally.
However, there are many users who use the external hard disk to expand the storage. The external hard disk is connected to the PC via USB and data is exchanged between them. However, its speed is much slower than the internal hard disk.
Why you need a hard disk later -
As I said before, we use a hard disk to store a large amount of data in a computer and require storage for backup.
Starting with your computer's operating system, all the software, and their files, all the personal data stored is stored on the hard disk.
You can keep this data under your control, which means you can delete or move this data if you want. It is possible that this data is stored on the hard disk.
Here I am giving a small example that the internal storage in your mobile is stored from apps to camera pictures, videos, mp3, and various other files, they are stored in the internal storage so you can access it.
You can access that data as a result of having a hard disk in the computer. But keep in mind that the technology used for storage in mobiles is different. We will discuss this later.
How Hard Disk Works -
We typically use storage to store our data when a device is turned off. As a result, when we turn on the device again, we can access our previous data.
Because we can't always keep the computer on, when the computer is off, the hard drive stores all the data on the computer, so when we restart the computer we can access that data.
Now let's try to find out how the hard drive is broken.
Friends, the hard drive uses a material that is called magnetism.
Magnetism material is used in the hard disks of my computer or yours. Today this technology has been used for many, many years.
Computers can normally understand the signals of binary numbers 0 and 1. All processing of the computer is processed by signals of 0 and 1.
That way all the data in a hard disk is stored as 0 and 1.
Hard disks contain one or more disks that rotate at a speed of 5600,7200 rpm. These disks contain ferromagnetic material so that it can be easily magnetically charged.
Divided by the billions of magnetic regions of a hard drive, this one magnetic region can convert their polarity to negative (-) or positive (+). As a result, one magnetic region represents one binary digit.
For example, a positive (+) magnetic charge represents 1, and a negative (-) magnetic charge represents 0 binary digits.
The disk spins between the hard disk and an actuator arm that is very close to the disk. This actuator arm usually exchanges magnetic charges between the disk, which we call reading and writing information exchange.
When you download an image or install software, this actuator arm on the hard disk releases a long magnetic pattern such as a plus-minus (- +) magnetic charge into the disk, which is called the writing process.
And when you run software or open a picture, the actuator arm goes to the place where the magnetic pattern is stored, then we send the CPU or ram of your computer where it is needed later, it is called the reading process.
Modern hard disks have multiple disks and can store data on either side of the disk.
Rise of SSD -
Internal hard drives come in different sizes, 500GB of hard disk was sufficient because then the size of software or different files was much smaller.
But at present 500GB storage is available on a mobile, so now 1TB, 2 TB, or more hard disk is usually seen on the computer.
HDD is much cheaper now than before and the demand for it has decreased. This is entirely due to the SSD (Solid-state drive) drive. I will write a detailed post about SSD drive very soon which is another technology.
The reason why most SSDs are used in computers now is that SSDs are much faster and much smaller in size than HDDs. However, the price of SSDs is much higher, so both SSDs and HDDs are being used on PCs.
But if the price of SSD decreases in the future, the use of hard disk will disappear. Then either it will be used only for backup or other devices.
